Why do you believe you are the best candidate to represent QPS families at this time?
Representations matters and I believe I am the best candidate to represent QPS families and 40% of the Asian student population, as a parent voice, and represent students as a QPS graduate myself.
What school and/or community activities do you participate in?
I am engaged in my local PTO at Merrymount and actively partake in QPS events like multicultural fairs and STEM fairs etc. I have also served on the board of South Cove Health for many years represented the Asian culture in Dragon Boat for almost 18 years.
What do you believe is the purpose of public education?
Public Education is the key the future of not just Quincy but our country and beyond. We must prepare our students for life after high school and to be informed and engaged citizens.
If elected, what will your top three priorities be for the Quincy Public Schools, and how will you implement them?
1. Improve communication and cultural competence in our schools.
2. Expand mental health and special education supports for students.
3. Phones in classrooms
If elected, what steps will you take to ensure responsiveness and clear communication between you and the Quincy community?
I’ll hold regular open forums, conduct multilingual surveys, and visit schools directly. We need structures in place that not only listen to families but act on their feedback. Parents should feel they have a seat at the table—because they do.
If elected, what will you do to help students, and their families learn about civic participation and voting?
I will advocate for programs that teach students at an early age about the democratic process and their civic responsibilities. I will speak to student and parent groups about the importance of civics and how everyone should participate.
There has been considerable public support for adding Lunar New Year to the school calendar as an official holiday, but the School Committee has voted against it for the third time in 2025. If you are elected and this proposal comes up for another vote, will you vote to add Lunar New Year as a school holiday?
Yes
