Why do you believe you are the best candidate to represent Quincy residents at this time?

I believe I am the best candidate to represent Quincy because I am a lifelong Quincy resident who only wants what’s best for the citizens I represent and want to leave my children and grandchildren the best Quincy possible. I am your neighbor and fellow taxpayer; what affects you, affects me.

What three issues are you most concerned about, and if elected, how will you address them?

Affordability, financial sustainability and moving forward.

Affordability to me is creating a city where three generations of families can thrive and stay in place for their entire lives. Making services available and accessible for all citizens can be achieved through communication and ongoing awareness of such programs (senior abatement programs, veterans services, affordable housing initiatives).

Sustainable growth: being able to have the services and events throughout the city— and making sure we are able to afford the operations of such events and services for the long term. Asking questions on costs and how each item is being paid for is the utmost importance.

Moving forward— the city is no longer at a crossroad— we are now at a tipping point. That means preparing for growth in the city for industry and commerce and being sure we support the RIGHT growth. In the end, making sure we are enabling that growth and supporting it through the complementing agencies.

If elected, what steps will you take to ensure responsiveness and clear communication between you and the Quincy community?

Ongoing use of QATV and citywide social media awareness and sharing of information. I would be open to, and have done, one on one meetings with individuals and groups throughout the city. I have employed the approach: Return every text, every call and every email. That will always be my approach.

What do you plan to do about Quincy’s $1.6 billion debt?

Continue to keep that debt in context and monitor how the growth of the city and plans to spend money is determined moving forward. Asking questions and getting detailed responses from those in a decision making capacity.

What do you think is the most important role of being a City Councillor?

Listening and communicating.

What will you do to increase civic participation and voter turnout in Quincy?

Answer the people by being more in the community and less on social media. Sending communications about ongoing events and services through social media is important in relaying information— but, determining policy or getting a true heartbeat on the wants and needs of the citizens is best found through being in the community and talking to people.

If it’s determined community meetings and office hours are the best way to make progress, I would very much be open to it.

Will you advocate for the City Council to allow the opportunity for public comment at every City Council meeting?

Yes
