Four candidates vie for the Ward 4 council seat

Four Ward 4 residents will compete for the council seat recently vacated by Brian Palmucci, who resigned in October to become a judge. They will face off in a preliminary election on January 17, with the winners of the preliminary competing in a final election on February 7.

The ward 4 council candidates are:

The winner of the Feb. 7 special election will serve on the Quincy City Council through 2023.

Important dates:

  • If you would like to Vote By Mail, you will need to request, complete, and return the ballot to Quincy City Hall. Call to request your application at 617-376-1131 between 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Call soon so you can get your ballot when they are available.

  • Saturday, January 7, 2023 — 5:00 pm - Last Day and Hour to Register to Vote for Preliminary Ward 4 Special Election

  • Saturday, January 7, 2023 – 8:30 am to 5:00 pm – Early Voting Ward 4 Special Preliminary Election at Quincy City Hall

  • Monday, January 9, 2023 — 5:00 pm – Last Day and Hour to Apply for Vote by Mail Ballots or Absentee Ballots for Preliminary Ward 4 Special Election

  • Saturday, January 28, 2023 — 5:00 pm – Last Day and Hour to Register to Vote for February 7, 2023, Ward 4 Special Election

  • Saturday, January 28, 2023 – 8:30 am to 5:00 pm – Early Voting Ward 4 Special Election at Quincy City Hall

  • Monday, January 30, 2023 — Friday, February 3, 2023 – 8:30 am to 4:30 pm - Early Voting Ward 4 Special Election at Quincy City Hall

  • Tuesday, January 31, 2023 — 5:00 pm – Last Day and Hour to Apply for Vote By Mail Ballots or Absentee Ballots for the February 7th Ward 4 Special Election

  • Tuesday, February 7, 2023 from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm - Ward 4 Special Election

You can register to vote by mail in the upcoming elections on the city’s elections page, but as of Dec.. 17, 2022, the application for the 2023 elections has not yet been uploaded. There will also be in-person early voting options for the special election on the second floor of Quincy City Hall (1305 Hancock Street), but the dates and times of in-person early voting have not yet been decided.
